Job title

Quality Control Chemist M/F/D

Position Context:

As a QC Chemist, you will report directly to the QC Team Leader providing analytical services to Operations, the Business and its customers as and when required. You will work across both the Middlesbrough and Billingham sites.

Main tasks :

Analytical testing of raw materials, bulk, intermediate, and finished products to established procedures and specifications

Performing a variety of tests/calibrations to aid in maintenance and certification of test instruments and apparatus

Preparing reagents, solutions, instruments, and apparatus according to established procedures to support the testing activities of the unit

Maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment (e.g. viscometers, pH meters, Gas Chromatographs).

Preparing reagents, solutions, instruments and apparatus according to procedures to support QC testing activities

Recording and interpreting results

Troubleshooting of analytical and instrument problems

Carrying out daily housekeeping in the Laboratory

Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and calibrations.

Analysis of drummed products, outside storage samples and non-routine samples

Performing training and validation of Operators in Lab activities

Preparing and carrying out Sample Dispatch

Required skills :

HNC/Degree in Chemistry is preferred

Analytical experience in a similar role is essential

An understanding of manufacturing and chemical plant processes would be advantageous

Must be eligible to work in the UK

Excellent IT skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
