R&D Industrial Placement Student M/F/D
Position Context:
To develop chemical processes on the lab scale and assist or take a lead role in the scale up these processes to the plant at both the Middlesbrough and Billingham sites.
To investigate problems with and identify improvements to existing production processes.
This placement starts summer 2026.
Main tasks :
Ensure good housekeeping throughout the laboratory, maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Work with R&D chemists to develop laboratory scale processes (< 20 L) and collaborate with chemical engineers to scale to manufacturing quantities.
Prepare detailed technical reports on all R&D work.
Collaborate with the quality control team to facilitate the transfer of analytical methodologies.
Effectively contribute to multi-disciplinary teams for the introduction of new chemical processes.
Support quality assurance and regulatory colleagues in customer service support.
Required skills :
Currently studying and expecting to achieve a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Chemistry — closely related disciplines will be considered.
Good working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and associated laboratory skills.
Ability to plan and execute work independently.
Demonstratable communication skills.
