Environmental Compliance Specialist M/F/D
Position Context:
Ensure the Billingham and Middlesbrough sites are in compliance with key legislation relating to the production and storage of chemicals. To comply and meet deadlines with respect to Environmental Permitting, COMAH and REACH.
Main tasks :
Provide input to New Product Introduction Procedures (ENPI) regarding EPR, COMAH and REACH implications for new projects
Act as site interface REACH consultant/support
Completion of Stage 1 of the MPP checklist
Submission of Notification of Minor Operational Changes to the EA
Submission of Multi Plant Protocol (MPP) Notifications to the EA
Co-ordination, compilation and submission of EPR permit variations and reporting requirements.
Co-ordination and submission of COMAH ‘Reg 8’ submissions
Co-ordination of Hazardous Substance Consent changes
Co-ordination and submission of REACH notifications
Co-ordination of HSE & EA communications & visits
Co-ordination of Quarterly/Annual EA returns
Member of the Resource Efficiency Team
Champion Energy efficiencies within the business
Co-ordination of the Packaging Waste returns
Auditing of waste contractors
Take part in local Audit programme
Take part in Incident Investigations
Deputies for Department Manager on occasion
Review of new Environmental legislation and feedback to regulators / CIA if necessary
Co-ordination of EHS ISO accreditations
Support the EHS department as a team member with the delivery of Corporate and local EHS Programme
Participate in and on occasion lead in house training on EHS topics
Required skills :
National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma (or equivalent)
Professional experience within the Chemical Industry, particularly on a high hazard, regulated chemical plant
Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, associated regulatory guidance and up-to-date awareness of relevant industry good practice
Human Factors experience preferred
Root Cause Analysis trained, along with incident investigation experience
Experience of dealing with regulators and other key stakeholders, and specifically with COMAH Safety Report submissions
Credible and confident communication skills both within and outside of the organisation
Good organisational and planning skills, and attention to detail
The ability to work on multiple tasks at one time, and to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision
Must have a full UK driving licence
Must be eligible to work in the UK
